COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design in Product Design and Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation at UTS is a 240-credit-point double degree that integrates professional product design education with interdisciplinary innovation studies. The Product Design component comprises 144 credit points, providing a structured foundation in design practice, concept development, prototyping, materials, user-centred design, and emerging technologies. Through studio-based learning, students develop the ability to conceptualise, visualise, and realise products, services, and systems that respond to contemporary social, technological, and environmental challenges. The Creative Intelligence and Innovation component contributes 96 credit points and is delivered in an accelerated format through intensive July and Summer sessions across the first three years, followed by a full year of study after completion of the professional degree. This component is not offered as a standalone qualification and must be completed alongside the Product Design degree. It develops advanced capabilities in critical and creative thinking, collaboration, entrepreneurship, complexity management, innovation, and future-focused problem-solving through transdisciplinary, project-based learning. Together, the two components create a flexible and future-oriented learning experience that combines technical design expertise with high-level creative intelligence. Graduates are equipped to work across disciplines and pursue careers in product design, innovation, interaction design, and other emerging roles within global creative and technology-driven industries.
