COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design in Fashion and Textiles and Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation at UTS is a 240-credit-point double degree that integrates professional fashion design education with transdisciplinary innovation studies. The Fashion and Textiles component comprises 144 credit points, focusing on developing strong technical, creative, and conceptual skills in fashion design, textile development, and studio-based practice. Students engage in hands-on learning that explores garment construction, material experimentation, design processes, and contemporary fashion systems, preparing them for the demands of the global fashion industry. The Creative Intelligence and Innovation component accounts for 96 credit points and is delivered in an accelerated format through intensive July and Summer sessions during the first three years, followed by a full year of study after completion of the fashion degree. This component is not offered as a standalone qualification and must be completed alongside the professional program. It develops interdisciplinary capabilities in critical and creative thinking, entrepreneurship, collaboration, complexity management, and future-oriented problem-solving through real-world projects and transdisciplinary learning. Together, the program equips students with both specialised fashion expertise and advanced innovation skills, enabling them to design responsibly, respond to global challenges, and pursue dynamic careers in fashion design, textiles, and broader creative industries.
