COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design in Architecture and Master of Architecture at UTS is a vertically integrated 240-credit-point program designed to prepare students for professional architectural practice and registration. The structure combines 144 credit points from the Bachelor of Design in Architecture with 96 credit points from the Master of Architecture, forming a continuous pathway from foundational study to advanced professional qualification. The bachelor component develops core skills in architectural design, spatial thinking, technical drawing, digital modelling, and construction principles through studio-based learning and theoretical subjects. This stage builds a strong conceptual and technical foundation while introducing students to architectural history, theory, and contemporary practice. The master component extends this learning into more advanced, research-informed and professionally oriented design work, with a strong emphasis on complex architectural projects, critical inquiry, and real-world application. Students refine their design thinking, leadership capabilities, and technical expertise while engaging with contemporary issues such as sustainability, urbanisation, and technological innovation. Together, the two degrees provide a seamless academic progression that aligns closely with professional accreditation requirements. Graduates are equipped with the knowledge, creative ability, and practical experience needed to work in architectural practice, contribute to the built environment, and meet the standards required for registration as architects in Australia.
