COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design in Architecture and Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation at UTS is a 240-credit-point double degree that combines professional architectural education with transdisciplinary innovation studies. The Architecture component comprises 144 credit points and focuses on developing core competencies in architectural design, spatial thinking, digital modelling, construction principles, and studio-based collaborative practice. Through progressively complex design studios and technical subjects, students build the conceptual and practical skills required for architectural practice and further progression into the Master of Architecture. The Creative Intelligence and Innovation component contributes 96 credit points and is delivered in an accelerated format through intensive July and Summer sessions during the first three years, followed by a full year of study after completion of the architecture degree. It is not offered as a standalone qualification and must be completed in combination with the professional program. This component develops interdisciplinary capabilities in critical and creative thinking, entrepreneurship, collaboration, complexity management, and future-oriented problem-solving through real-world projects and transdisciplinary learning. Together, the two streams provide a balanced education that integrates technical architectural expertise with advanced innovation skills, preparing graduates to approach design challenges holistically and adaptively. Graduates are equipped for further study in the Master of Architecture as well as careers in architecture, design, and related creative and built environment industries.
