COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Design in Interior Architecture at UTS is a 144-credit-point program structured to develop advanced skills in spatial design, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving. The course consists of 120 credit points of core subjects, which form the foundation of the degree and focus on developing key competencies in interior architecture practice, including spatial design, conceptual development, research-based design processes, and digital and analogue fabrication techniques. These core subjects progressively build students’ ability to design interior, public, and urban environments that respond to human experience, atmosphere, and context. In addition, students complete 18 credit points of electives, allowing them to extend their learning or explore specialised areas of interest within or beyond the design discipline. A further 6 credit points of Transdisciplinary Electives provide opportunities to engage with other fields of study, encouraging broader thinking and interdisciplinary approaches to design challenges. This structure ensures a strong balance between focused professional training and flexible academic exploration. Through studio-based learning, collaborative projects, and research-informed design practice, students develop the skills needed to create innovative and meaningful spatial environments. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in interior architecture and related fields, equipping them with the technical expertise, conceptual understanding, and creative capability to shape contemporary interior and public spaces.
