COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Creative Production in Music and Sound Design at UTS is a 144-credit-point degree structured to develop both creative and technical expertise in sound, music, and media production. The course includes 18 credit points of Creative Production Core subjects that establish foundational knowledge in production practices, creativity, and industry approaches. Students then complete 54 credit points of Music and Sound Design Stream subjects that build core competencies in areas such as sound engineering, music production, composition, and audio design for screen and interactive media. In addition, 18 credit points of Music and Sound Design Stream Choice subjects allow students to tailor their learning and explore specialised interests within the discipline. The remaining 54 credit points are allocated to sub-majors and electives, offering flexible study pathways. Students may complete two 24-credit-point sub-majors plus a 6-credit-point Transdisciplinary Elective, or one 24-credit-point sub-major combined with 30 credit points of electives (including a Transdisciplinary Elective), or alternatively complete 54 credit points of electives including a Transdisciplinary Elective. Students are required to opt into a sub-major through an eRequest process. This flexible structure enables students to personalise their studies while developing strong creative production skills, interdisciplinary knowledge, and professional readiness for careers in music, sound design, audio production, and related creative industries.
