COURSE CURRICULUM

The UTS Bachelor of Creative Production in Animation equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience needed to succeed as professional animators. Students complete core subjects that explore the relationship between sound and moving image, ethical creative practice, and entrepreneurship, providing a well-rounded foundation for creative work. In the animation stream, they develop practical competencies in animating character-driven narratives in both 2D and 3D, exploring animation performance, worldbuilding, and creating short films across multiple modes of production. In their final year, students collaborate with industry partners to design and pitch an original animated series while completing a capstone short film, demonstrating both creative and professional skills.The course emphasizes practical, career-ready capabilities, going far beyond theoretical learning. Students gain expertise in 2D and 3D animation, character and narrative design, screen direction, lighting, and editing, learning how these elements come together to tell compelling stories. Through project-based studio work and collaboration with peers and industry mentors, students strengthen their creative thinking, communication, and teamwork skills. The program also allows students to broaden their experience by selecting electives from future-focused Creative Production and Communication courses, enabling them to explore related disciplines and expand their creative toolkit. Graduates of the program leave as well-rounded professionals, capable of producing high-quality, character-driven animations across a variety of media and platforms.
