COURSE CURRICULUM

The core subjects in this program provide a strong foundation in mathematics, computing theory, software development and professional practice. You will begin with essential mathematical knowledge through Mathematics 1, Mathematics 2 and Discrete Mathematics, which support your understanding of algorithms and computational theory. Key programming skills are built through Programming 1, Programming 2 and Data Structures and Algorithms, complemented by subjects such as Web Systems, Database Fundamentals and Network Fundamentals that introduce core technical environments used in the industry. You will also study Communication for IT Professionals, Business Requirements Modelling, and Project Management and the Professional to develop the communication, planning and analytical skills needed to work effectively in professional settings. The program includes Theory of Computing Science to strengthen your understanding of the principles underlying computation, along with Professional Practice in Computing, which prepares you for ethical and responsible work as a computing professional. Studio subjects, including Computing Science Studio 1 and 2, provide hands-on experience applying theory to real-world problems. Advanced research preparation is supported through Technology Research Preparation and Technology Research Methods, which equip you with the skills to conduct independent inquiry. The course concludes with an Honours Project, allowing you to carry out a substantial research or development project that demonstrates your knowledge and capabilities as an emerging computing specialist.
