COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Communication in Social and Political Sciences and Bachelor of Laws is a 240-credit-point double degree that enables students to graduate with two separate qualifications while building expertise in both social and political sciences and law. The law component consists of 144 credit points, including 108 credit points of compulsory core law subjects that provide a comprehensive understanding of the Australian legal system, legal reasoning, and professional practice. Students also complete 30 credit points of law options, which may be selected from general law electives or the Legal Futures and Technology options, allowing them to explore emerging legal technologies and contemporary legal issues. A further 6-credit-point legal theory option strengthens critical thinking and analytical skills through the study of legal philosophy and theory. The communication component comprises 96 credit points, including 18 credit points of compulsory Communication Core subjects that establish essential communication knowledge and professional capabilities. Students then complete 48 credit points within the Social and Political Sciences stream, focusing on sociology, politics, public policy, international studies, and social research. The remaining 30 credit points are completed through electives, providing flexibility to broaden academic knowledge or develop specialist expertise. This integrated curriculum prepares graduates for careers in law, government, policy development, social research, advocacy, media, and public administration.
