COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Communication in Public Relations and Advertising and Bachelor of Laws is a 240-credit-point double degree that enables students to graduate with two separate qualifications while developing expertise in both strategic communication and law. The law component consists of 144 credit points, including 108 credit points of compulsory core law subjects that provide a comprehensive understanding of the Australian legal system, legal reasoning, and professional practice. Students also complete 30 credit points of law options, which can be selected from general law electives or the Legal Futures and Technology options, allowing them to explore emerging legal technologies and contemporary developments in legal practice. A further 6-credit-point legal theory option enhances critical thinking and analytical skills through the study of legal philosophy and theory. The communication component comprises 96 credit points, including 18 credit points of compulsory Communication Core subjects that establish essential communication knowledge and professional capabilities. Students then complete 48 credit points in the Public Relations and Advertising stream, focusing on communication strategy, campaign planning, media engagement, branding, and advertising practices. The remaining 30 credit points are completed through electives, providing flexibility to broaden knowledge or develop specialist expertise. This well-balanced curriculum integrates legal education with communication and advertising skills, preparing graduates for diverse careers across legal, corporate, media, and public relations sectors.
