COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Communication in Media Business and Bachelor of Laws is a 240-credit-point double degree that enables students to graduate with two separate qualifications while developing expertise in both media business and law. The law component consists of 144 credit points, including 108 credit points of compulsory core law subjects that provide a comprehensive understanding of the Australian legal system and essential legal principles. Students also complete 30 credit points of law options, which may be chosen from general law electives or the Legal Futures and Technology options, allowing them to explore emerging legal technologies and future-focused legal practices. In addition, a 6-credit-point legal theory option strengthens critical thinking and analytical skills by examining the theoretical foundations of law. The communication component comprises 96 credit points, including 18 credit points of compulsory Communication Core subjects that establish fundamental communication knowledge and professional capabilities. Students then complete 48 credit points within the Media Business stream, focusing on strategic planning, business development, media management, and promotion for creative industries. The remaining 30 credit points are allocated to electives, providing flexibility to broaden knowledge or specialise in areas of personal and professional interest. This balanced curriculum integrates legal expertise with media business skills, preparing graduates for diverse careers in law and the creative industries.
