COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Communication (Media Business) at UTS comprises a total of 144 credit points and is structured to develop both communication expertise and strong business capabilities for the modern media industry. The program includes 18 credit points of Communication Core subjects that provide foundational knowledge in communication theory, media practice, and essential professional skills. Students then complete a 48-credit-point Media Business Stream, which focuses on media management, industry operations, strategic thinking, and business practices tailored to the creative economy. In addition, students select a potential second stream worth 48 credit points, which allows them to further specialise in another communication-related discipline. This second stream must be chosen during first-year enrolment, and students are required to complete the first two subjects within it in their first year, allowing them to explore the area before committing fully. At the beginning of second year, students may choose to continue with the second stream, in which case it will be formally recognised in their award title upon graduation, or they may opt out and complete electives instead. Students who choose to discontinue the second stream must submit an eRequest to update their study plan. The remaining 30 credit points are allocated to electives, giving flexibility to broaden knowledge and skills across communication and related fields, ensuring adaptability in a dynamic media business environment.
