COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Speech Language Pathology is a two-year graduate-entry program comprising 96 credit points of core units delivered in a structured sequence that builds progressively from foundational knowledge to advanced clinical practice. In Year 1, Semester 1, students study core areas including Language 1: Early Development and Disorders, Speech 1: Developmental Disorders, Voice and Resonance, and Professional Practice 1, which establish essential knowledge in linguistics, anatomy, physiology, phonetics, and professional communication. In Semester 2, learning advances to Language 2: School Aged Language and Literacy, Speech 2: Stuttering and Motor Speech, Feeding and Swallowing Across the Lifespan, and Professional Practice 2, allowing students to develop clinical reasoning and begin integrating theory with practice. In Year 2, Semester 1 focuses on more complex conditions through Audiology and Aural Habilitation, Communication in Lifelong Disability, Language 3: Aphasia and Cognition, and Professional Practice 3, strengthening students’ understanding of neurological and lifelong communication disorders. In Semester 2, students undertake Interdisciplinary Practice: Complex Cases along with separate Professional Practice units for adult and child populations, as well as SLP Clinical Research and Leadership, which builds research literacy and leadership capability. Throughout the program, students develop expertise in assessment and treatment of speech, language, voice, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders across the lifespan, supported by extensive clinical training. Overall, the program prepares graduates for professional practice in diverse healthcare, educational, and community settings.
