COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Engineering (Accelerated) in Software Engineering is a structured program that combines advanced technical study with professional engineering practice, management skills, and project-based learning. The course covers key areas such as software construction and design, software quality engineering, object-oriented application frameworks, internet software platforms, and real-time computing systems. Students also gain exposure to broader engineering concepts including sustainable design and professional practice in IT, ensuring they develop both technical depth and industry awareness. The program requires completion of core software engineering units, elective units, professional engineering subjects, and at least two project or research-based units. In Year 1, Semester 1, students study foundational professional and core units such as Sustainable Design, Engineering & Management, Software Construction and Design 2, Software Quality Engineering, and Professional Practice in IT. In Semester 2, learning progresses to advanced topics including Software Engineering Project, Object-Oriented Application Frameworks, Internet Software Platforms, and Signals, Software and Health. In Year 2, students engage in specialised electives, practical experience or industrial placement, and capstone research or dissertation projects, alongside advanced subjects like Information Security Management and Model-Based Software Engineering. Overall, the program prepares graduates for high-level engineering roles by integrating advanced software development skills with leadership, innovation, and real-world problem-solving experience in complex computing environments.
