COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Engineering (Accelerated) (Mechanical Engineering) is structured to develop advanced technical expertise, practical engineering capability, and professional skills through a combination of core study, specialisation, and project-based learning. In Year 1, students build a strong foundation in advanced mechanical engineering topics such as fluid mechanics, thermal engineering, mechanics of solids, and mechanical systems design, alongside professional engineering units in sustainable design and engineering practice. These units develop essential analytical, design, and problem-solving skills required for complex mechanical systems. Students also select specialisation units that allow them to tailor their studies to specific areas of interest. In Year 2, the program shifts toward more advanced and applied learning, including engineering materials for advanced manufacturing and system dynamics and control, which strengthen understanding of modern mechanical systems and technologies. Students also complete either a capstone research project or dissertation pathway, enabling them to integrate and apply their knowledge to real-world engineering problems. Professional practice experience further enhances industry readiness by exposing students to workplace environments and engineering applications. The final semester includes additional specialised electives and advanced technical study, ensuring depth in chosen areas.
