COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Engineering (Accelerated) (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering) is structured to develop advanced technical expertise alongside strong professional engineering capabilities through a carefully sequenced program of core, elective, and research-based learning. In the first semester, students build foundational knowledge in sustainable engineering design, professional practice, process dynamics and control, and reaction engineering, which form the basis for understanding complex chemical systems. In Semester 2, the focus expands to process plant design, risk management, and specialised elective or management units, allowing students to tailor their learning while strengthening industry-relevant decision-making skills. The second year shifts toward advanced application and integration of knowledge, beginning with a capstone project or research dissertation pathway, alongside advanced design in chemical engineering and specialised topics such as particle processing. Students also gain practical exposure through professional engineering experience or industry placement opportunities, enhancing their readiness for real-world engineering environments. In the final semester, students complete advanced chemical engineering design and further electives, culminating in a second capstone or dissertation component that consolidates their learning. This structure ensures graduates develop strong problem-solving abilities, technical depth, and professional competencies, preparing them for careers in industries such as energy, materials, pharmaceuticals, and process engineering while meeting international standards for professional engineering accreditation.
