COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) is structured to build strong foundational knowledge, advanced technical capability, and professional engineering skills through a progressive three-year study plan. In Year 1, students begin with core foundation units such as fluid mechanics, engineering dynamics, thermodynamics, mechanics of solids, materials engineering, electromechanical systems, and mechanical system design. These subjects establish a strong grounding in the principles that underpin mechanical engineering practice. In Year 2, students transition into more advanced study, combining professional engineering units in sustainable design and engineering practice with core mechanical engineering subjects such as advanced fluid mechanics, thermal engineering, manufacturing for sustainability, and design and analysis. Students also begin to explore specialised areas through elective units aligned with their interests. In Year 3, the focus shifts toward professional application and integration of knowledge through practical experience, capstone research projects, and advanced topics such as system dynamics and control and materials for advanced manufacturing. Students also complete specialist electives and may undertake a dissertation pathway if eligible. Throughout the program, emphasis is placed on problem-solving, design thinking, and real-world engineering application. Graduates are prepared for careers in industries such as manufacturing, energy, automotive, aerospace, and infrastructure, with strong capabilities in both technical engineering and professional practice.
