COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Interaction Design and Electronic Arts (Illumination Design) develops advanced capabilities in designing interactive experiences across a wide range of platforms and scales, from wearable technologies and mobile applications to responsive environments, interactive architecture, and urban informatics. The program emphasises human-centred design, encouraging students to create solutions that are both technologically innovative and deeply responsive to user needs and behaviours. Through collaborative design studios and technical workshops, students gain practical skills in prototyping, digital fabrication, interaction design, and creative coding, while also developing critical thinking skills to evaluate the effectiveness of their designs. The Illumination Design specialisation provides focused expertise in interactive lighting systems, enabling students to explore how light can be used as a dynamic design medium in architectural, artistic, and commercial contexts. Flexibility is built into the course through elective units drawn from other faculties, allowing students to tailor their learning to personal interests and career goals. A strong emphasis is placed on portfolio development, ensuring graduates can effectively communicate both their design process and user experience outcomes. The program concludes with a capstone project, industry internship, or major design project, where students apply their knowledge to real-world challenges and demonstrate their readiness for professional practice in design, technology, and creative industries.
