COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Crosscultural and Applied Linguistics is a postgraduate program that requires the completion of 96 credit points, combining core, selective, elective, and capstone units. The structure is designed to provide both foundational knowledge and flexible study options, allowing students to tailor their learning to their academic and career interests. Students complete a minimum of 30 credit points of core units, which establish essential understanding of linguistics, communication, and the relationships between language, culture, and society. These core subjects build the theoretical and analytical foundation needed to understand how language operates in diverse social and professional contexts. In addition, students undertake between 42 and 60 credit points of selective units, allowing them to specialise in areas relevant to fields such as education, marketing, media, community relations, healthcare, and business. Up to 18 credit points of elective units can also be taken from across the university, providing further flexibility and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. A key component of the degree is the capstone unit, worth at least 6 credit points, which focuses on professional practice and allows students to apply their knowledge to real-world communication challenges. Overall, the program equips graduates with advanced skills in linguistics and cross-cultural communication, preparing them for careers in multilingual and multicultural environments or further academic research.
