COURSE CURRICULUM

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) is a three-year specialist program that develops advanced clinical expertise, theoretical understanding, and research capability in restorative and prosthetic dentistry. In Year 1, students build foundational competence in fixed and removable prosthodontics and restorative dentistry through core units, alongside training in advanced studies of orofacial pain and research methods in dentistry. They begin developing evidence-based practice skills while progressing toward registrar-level understanding of prosthodontic principles. In Year 2, students advance into complex clinical prosthodontics through a structured series of advanced clinical units (1A, 1B, 1C and 2A–2C), where they manage increasingly challenging restorative cases involving crowns, bridges, dentures, and rehabilitation treatments. Concurrently, they continue research training through Dental Research Studies 2 and 3, strengthening analytical and scholarly capabilities. In Year 3, the program focuses on senior-level clinical expertise through advanced clinical prosthodontics units (3A–3C and 4A–4C), where students are expected to demonstrate high-level competency comparable to senior registrars in complex restorative and implant-related cases. Research development continues through Dental Research Studies 4 and 5, supporting academic and clinical inquiry. Throughout the program, students integrate clinical practice, orofacial pain management, and research to develop specialist-level judgement. Graduates are prepared for careers as specialist prosthodontists in clinical practice, hospitals, academia, and research, with strong expertise in restoring oral function and aesthetics in complex cases.
