COURSE CURRICULUM

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontics) is a three-year specialist training program that develops advanced clinical expertise, theoretical knowledge, and research capability in the management of periodontal diseases and implant dentistry. In Year 1, students build foundational competence through Clinical Periodontics 1A and 1B, Introduction to Oral Implants, and Periodontology units, alongside Research Methods in Dentistry and Dental Research Studies 1. These subjects establish strong skills in diagnosis, treatment planning, and the management of periodontal conditions, with an emphasis on restorative dentistry and oral rehabilitation. In Year 2, students progress to more advanced clinical training through Clinical Periodontics 2A and 2B, Implant-related Surgery, and Periodontology 2A and 2B. These units focus on surgical and non-surgical periodontal therapy, implant procedures, and more complex case management, supported by continued research training in Dental Research Studies 2 and 3. In Year 3, the program emphasizes advanced specialist-level competence through Clinical Periodontics 3A and 3B, Advanced Implant Management, and Periodontology 3A and 3B, where students manage highly complex cases and refine surgical expertise. Research development continues through Dental Research Studies 4 and 5, strengthening academic and evidence-based practice. Throughout the program, students integrate clinical training, implant dentistry, and periodontal science to become specialists capable of managing advanced periodontal and implant cases in clinical, hospital, and academic settings.
