COURSE CURRICULUM

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Paediatric Dentistry) is a structured specialist program designed to train qualified dentists in advanced clinical care for children and adolescents. It is organised over three years and combines intensive clinical training, theoretical learning, and ongoing research development to build specialist expertise in children’s oral health. In Year 1, students study foundational areas such as Behaviour Management, Child Assessment and Treatment Planning, Preventive Dentistry, Restorative Paediatric Dentistry Part 1, Management of Orofacial Trauma, and Community Paediatric Dentistry, alongside Research Methods in Dentistry and Dental Research Studies. In Year 2, learning progresses to more advanced topics including Preventive Dentistry 2, Restorative Paediatric Dentistry Part 2, Growth and Development, Dental Anomalies and Genetics, Paediatric Oral Pathology and Medicine, and Development of the Occlusion, supported by continued research studies. In Year 3, students undertake advanced clinical and specialist units such as Management of Orofacial Trauma Part 2, Paediatric Medicine and Surgery, Management of Children’s Special Needs, Specialist Paediatric Practice, and further studies in anomalies and oral pathology, along with final research units. The program places strong emphasis on clinical experience, allowing students to develop advanced diagnostic, treatment, and behaviour management skills for complex paediatric cases. Overall, it prepares graduates for specialist practice in hospitals, clinics, and academic settings, focusing on delivering comprehensive, evidence-based dental care for children with diverse and complex needs.
