COURSE CURRICULUM

The Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Medicine) is a three-year specialist program that develops advanced expertise in the diagnosis and non-surgical management of oral diseases, as well as the care of medically compromised patients. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through Applied Oral Biology, Oral Pathology, Internal and General Medicine, Oral Medicine, and Advanced Studies in Orofacial Pain, alongside Research Methods in Dentistry and Dental Research Studies 1. This stage integrates basic medical sciences with oral health principles to develop strong diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills. In Year 2, students progress to more advanced clinical training in Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, and Internal and General Medicine (Level 2A and 2B), where they manage increasingly complex cases under supervision. They continue developing evidence-based practice through Dental Research Studies 2 and 3, strengthening their research and analytical abilities. In Year 3, students undertake advanced-level clinical training (Level 3A and 3B), focusing on highly complex oral conditions and medically compromised patients requiring multidisciplinary care. Oral Pathology, Internal Medicine, and Oral Medicine units at this stage emphasize specialist-level decision-making and clinical independence. Dental Research Studies 4 and 5 further enhance scholarly and research competence. Overall, the program prepares graduates for specialist careers in oral medicine within hospitals, academia, and research settings, equipping them to provide expert non-surgical management of complex oral diseases and medically challenging patients.
