COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science and Master of Nursing is a structured combined degree consisting of 192 credit points, equally divided between 96 credit points in the Bachelor of Science and 96 credit points in the Master of Nursing. The program is designed to integrate foundational scientific knowledge with professional nursing education, preparing students for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. In the first year, students study exclusively within the Bachelor of Science, building core knowledge in health sciences. From years two and three, students undertake a combination of undergraduate science units and postgraduate nursing studies, while the final year is fully dedicated to Master of Nursing coursework and clinical training. To complete the Bachelor of Science component, students must earn 96 credit points, including 12 credit points of degree core units, 12 credit points of 1000-level units, and a 48-credit-point major from approved science subject areas. Additionally, students complete units that satisfy either a compulsory minor or second major, along with at least 6 credit points from the Open Learning Environment and further electives from science or shared pools. The Master of Nursing component comprises 96 credit points of core professional units, along with extensive clinical experience as prescribed by the program. This integrated structure ensures graduates develop strong scientific understanding, advanced clinical skills, and practical healthcare experience, preparing them for diverse and rewarding nursing careers in a range of healthcare settings.
