COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (Advanced) is an undergraduate degree designed to develop strong analytical, critical thinking, and research skills in students who are interested in advanced scientific study. The program provides a solid foundation in core scientific disciplines, allowing students to build essential knowledge in areas such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, and related fields. After completing foundational units, students choose a major or stream from the Science disciplinary pool and pair it with a minor or second major from either the disciplinary pool or the shared pool of disciplines. The degree also includes flexible study options through Open Learning Environment units and additional electives to complete the required credit points. A key feature of the program is its emphasis on independent thinking and research preparation, making it ideal for students who may wish to pursue Honours after graduation. The Honours year provides further training in advanced analytical methods and involves a supervised research project alongside specialised coursework, preparing students for postgraduate research opportunities such as a PhD. Admission to Honours is competitive and based on academic performance and additional requirements.
