COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Psychology Honours is a structured four-year degree designed to provide comprehensive training in psychological science and research, leading to professional-level qualifications. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in core psychology along with supporting studies in mathematics, electives, and a minor from another discipline. The second year deepens understanding of key areas such as statistics and research methods, brain and behavioural psychology, personality and social psychology, and cognitive processes including perception, intelligence, and cognition. In the third year, students engage in advanced psychological training, including advanced statistics for psychology and specialised psychology electives across fields such as social, developmental, abnormal, cognitive, and applied psychology. They also begin higher-level 4000-level psychology coursework to prepare for honours study. The final year is dedicated entirely to the Honours program, where students undertake intensive coursework and a supervised research project across two semesters. This honours year focuses on developing advanced research skills, critical thinking, and the ability to design, conduct, and analyse original psychological research. The program also integrates a minor subject throughout earlier years to provide interdisciplinary learning and broader academic exposure. Overall, the degree prepares students for professional registration pathways in psychology and equips them with strong scientific, analytical, and research capabilities for careers in psychology or further postgraduate study.
