COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours) and Master of Pharmacy Practice is a five-year integrated degree that combines pharmaceutical sciences, clinical training, research, and professional practice to prepare students for registration as pharmacists. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge through studies in human biology, molecular and cellular biology, introductory pharmacy, pharmaceutical sciences, pharmacy practice, dosage forms, and pharmacology. During the second year, the focus expands to professional practice, therapeutic principles, infectious diseases, respiratory health, and health research methods, alongside elective study. In the third year, students develop advanced clinical knowledge in major therapeutic areas, including cardiovascular and renal health, musculoskeletal and dermatological conditions, endocrinology, diabetes, reproductive health, neurology, mental health, oncology, immunology, and research methods. The fourth year emphasizes integrated professional practice, pharmacy management, and an honours research project, allowing students to apply scientific and clinical knowledge in real-world settings. In the fifth and final year, students undertake advanced professional practice units covering cardiovascular and respiratory care, mental health, diabetes, and oncology, while completing extensive work-integrated learning placements. Throughout the degree, students gain hands-on clinical experience and develop skills in patient care, medication management, communication, and evidence-based decision-making. This structured progression ensures graduates possess the scientific expertise, practical competence, and professional experience required for contemporary pharmacy practice and successful careers in diverse healthcare environments.
