COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of International Studies is a flexible interdisciplinary degree that combines a core International Studies major with a second major or minor and a range of elective options. Throughout the three-year program, students complete foundational units in international studies during their first and second years, developing knowledge of global affairs, international relations, culture, history, and political systems. As they progress, students undertake advanced 3000-level International Studies units and a capstone experience that integrates their learning and analytical skills. Alongside the International Studies major, students complete a second major or minor in a complementary field such as American Studies, Anthropology, Asian Studies, Cultural Studies, European Studies, Gender Studies, History, International Relations, Jewish Civilisation, Political Economy, Politics, Sociology, or a modern language including Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Modern Greek, or Spanish. Students also choose electives to broaden their academic experience and tailor the degree to their interests. If the second major or minor is not a language, students must complete designated language units to strengthen their international communication skills. High-achieving students may join the Dalyell Stream, which includes advanced interdisciplinary units and enrichment opportunities. Overall, the curriculum combines international studies, language learning, disciplinary specialization, and elective flexibility to prepare graduates for globally focused careers and further study.
