COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours (Civil Engineering) and Bachelor of Design in Architecture is an integrated double degree that combines structural engineering with architectural design, allowing students to understand both how buildings are designed and how they stand safely in the real world. It develops technical engineering knowledge alongside creative design thinking, preparing graduates to work across the full building process from concept to construction. In the engineering part of the degree, students study mathematics, computing, statics, materials, structural mechanics, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, transport systems, and construction engineering. In parallel, the architecture component focuses on design studios, architectural history and theory, and building technologies, helping students develop spatial awareness, creativity, and visual communication skills. The program also includes Professional Engagement Program units throughout the degree to build real industry experience. In later years, students undertake advanced civil engineering design, architectural electives, and a thesis project, allowing them to integrate both disciplines in complex real-world projects. Overall, the degree prepares graduates for careers in architecture, structural engineering, construction, and urban development, where both technical precision and design innovation are essential.
