COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering Honours and Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) is an integrated double degree that combines advanced engineering education with a strong grounding in medical science and human biology. It is designed to equip students with both technical engineering expertise and scientific understanding of the human body, enabling them to work at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and biomedical innovation. The engineering component is fully accredited by Engineers Australia at the level of Professional Engineer and includes foundational units in mathematics, computing, and multidisciplinary project work. Students then progress to specialised stream units in either Biomedical Engineering or Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, with opportunities to pursue optional specialisations where available. A key feature of the program is the final-year honours thesis, which allows students to undertake independent, research-focused work in their chosen engineering stream. Throughout the degree, students also participate in the Professional Engagement Program, gaining industry experience and professional skills development, including engineering work placements in the final year. Alongside this, students complete the Bachelor of Science (Medical Science), which provides core scientific training in medical sciences, project-based learning, and a major in the Medical Science stream. Elective units further allow academic flexibility and depth. This combined structure ensures graduates develop strong analytical, research, and practical skills, preparing them for careers in biomedical engineering, healthcare innovation, medical research, and related scientific industries.
