COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Arts is a combined degree that integrates rigorous economic training with broad studies in the social sciences and humanities, allowing students to develop both analytical and interdisciplinary perspectives. In the Economics component, students complete foundational studies in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and econometrics, along with an embedded major in areas such as Econometrics, Economics, Environmental, Agricultural and Resource Economics, or Financial Economics. High-achieving students who meet progression requirements may also choose the Advanced Economics program, which provides a pathway to Honours in Economics. Alongside economics, students complete a major in a social science or humanities discipline, enabling them to explore fields such as politics, history, sociology, languages, or cultural studies. In addition, they undertake a minor from a broad shared pool that includes subjects across business, STEM, social sciences, and humanities, allowing for further academic flexibility and interdisciplinary learning. The degree also includes units from the Open Learning Environment and additional electives to meet credit point requirements, ensuring a well-rounded education. This structure equips students with strong quantitative, analytical, and research skills from economics, combined with critical thinking, communication, and cultural awareness from the arts. Graduates are well prepared for careers in finance, government, policy analysis, international organisations, research, and academia, as well as other fields requiring adaptable and interdisciplinary expertise in today’s complex global environment.
