COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Arts is a flexible combined degree that integrates business education with humanities and social sciences, allowing students to develop both analytical and critical thinking skills. The program provides a strong grounding in business operations while also encouraging an understanding of how business interacts with society, culture, and global issues. Students learn to analyse real-world problems, think independently, and form well-reasoned judgments supported by evidence and structured argument. A key feature of the degree is its flexibility, enabling students to combine two diverse disciplines based on their interests and career goals, which enhances employability and opens up a wide range of professional opportunities. The Commerce component develops knowledge in areas such as accounting, economics, finance, management, and business strategy, while the Arts component allows exploration of subjects such as history, politics, sociology, languages, and cultural studies. Students complete core foundational units from both disciplines, along with a major in Commerce and a major in Arts and Social Sciences. They also select a minor from a shared pool of subjects across other faculties, as well as additional units from the Open Learning Environment and elective subjects to fulfil course requirements. This structure ensures graduates gain transferable skills, intellectual depth, and practical knowledge, preparing them for diverse careers in business, government, media, consulting, and international organisations.
