COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) is a four-year undergraduate coursework degree designed to prepare you for professional practice as a qualified occupational therapist. This program equips you with the skills and knowledge needed to support individuals experiencing disability, injury, or ongoing health conditions to overcome barriers that affect their daily participation and quality of life.Throughout the course, you will complete core occupational therapy units and undertake a minor in Disability, Participation and Health. You may also choose to deepen your expertise by completing a major in the same area or selecting elective units from a wide range of discipline areas. For eligible students, an integrated Honours pathway is available in the final three semesters, offering the opportunity to conduct independent research under academic supervision.A central component of the degree is professional practice. You will complete 1,000 hours of supervised work-based learning across the four years, with placements occurring both during semesters and recess periods. These placements are located across metropolitan and regional areas, and may also include opportunities for international experience. Through this hands-on learning, you will gain practical skills and experience in diverse settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centres, community organisations, mental health services, and schools.Graduates of the program are eligible to apply for registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia and for membership with Occupational Therapy Australia and the World Federation of Occupational Therapists.
