COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Media and Communications) is an advanced-level program designed to extend students’ knowledge and skills in media, communication, and related disciplines through flexible and interdisciplinary study. The course requirements are outlined in the official course resolutions and include a combination of advanced coursework, electives, and discipline-specific units. Students complete advanced Media and Communications units that focus on critical analysis, media theory, digital communication, and professional practice, helping them develop a deeper understanding of how media operates in contemporary society. In addition to core advanced units, students have the flexibility to choose elective subjects from a wide range of areas listed in Table A (Arts and Social Sciences) as well as Table S (shared pool subjects from other faculties). This allows students to tailor their degree according to their interests and career goals, whether in journalism, public relations, advertising, digital media, or communications strategy. The program is designed to encourage independent thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and applied knowledge. For students enrolled in the honours pathway, additional research-focused requirements are included, further strengthening analytical and academic skills. Overall, the degree provides both depth and flexibility, preparing graduates for diverse careers in the media and communications industry.
