COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Computing and Bachelor of Science (Medical Science) is a structured five-year combined degree that integrates advanced computing skills with in-depth medical science knowledge to prepare students for careers in health technology, biomedical research, and data-driven healthcare innovation. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in programming, mathematics, computing systems, and human biology and anatomy. The second year expands into data science, algorithms, software development, chemistry, biology, and human health across the lifespan, combining both technical and scientific learning. In the third year, students study biochemistry, molecular biology, data and information management, usability and security in computing, and begin selecting advanced IT and science electives. The fourth year focuses on contemporary medical challenges, interdisciplinary medical science projects, and further development of computing and analytical skills through major units and electives. In the final year, students complete advanced computing subjects, including thesis work, alongside medical science units exploring breakthroughs and future directions in healthcare. The program also allows optional honours pathways through dedicated thesis and advanced research units. Throughout the degree, students gain expertise in programming, data analysis, artificial intelligence, human biology, and medical research methods. This combination equips graduates to work at the intersection of healthcare and technology, contributing to fields such as medical research, bioinformatics, health informatics, digital health systems, and innovative solutions that improve patient care and public health outcomes globally.
