COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Advanced Computing and Bachelor of Commerce is a five-year combined degree that integrates advanced technical computing skills with strong business and commerce knowledge, preparing students for leadership roles in technology-driven industries. In the first year, students build foundational knowledge in programming, computing systems, mathematics, business, accounting, and quantitative analysis. The second year develops deeper expertise in data structures and algorithms, discrete mathematics, agile software development, alongside core commerce subjects such as business leadership and introductory major units. In the third year, students advance their learning through specialised computing major units, data management, usability and security, and further commerce major subjects focused on business strategy, finance, marketing, or economics. The fourth year combines higher-level computing management studies with advanced commerce coursework and elective units, allowing students to tailor their academic pathway. In the final year, students complete advanced electives, including optional thesis or additional 4000-level computing units, along with the Computing 4 Innovation unit. The program is designed to develop a strong balance between technical problem-solving and commercial understanding, enabling students to design, develop, and commercialise technological solutions. Throughout the degree, students gain skills in programming, software development, cybersecurity, data analytics, finance, management, and business strategy. This combination prepares graduates for careers in software engineering, consulting, fintech, entrepreneurship, data science, and technology management, where they can bridge the gap between computing innovation and business success.
