COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Cyber Security at the University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) is a comprehensive program designed to develop advanced technical and management skills required to protect digital assets in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. To graduate, students must successfully complete 16 units of study that combine theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience. The degree provides an in-depth understanding of cyber security principles, data protection, and risk management, while also fostering leadership and strategic decision-making skills relevant to the digital era. Students engage in advanced coursework and applied research, allowing them to bridge the gap between technical expertise and business value.The program consists of eight core courses that form the foundation of the degree. These include subjects such as IS/ICT Project Management, Cyber Security Architecture, Foundations of IT Systems Administration, Cloud Security, Securing Networks, and Statistics for Quantitative Researchers. A major highlight of the program is the Cyber Security Project, which spans two units and serves as a capstone experience. This project enables students to collaborate with industry professionals, work with real-world data, and apply theoretical concepts to practical security challenges.Beyond the core courses, students have the flexibility to tailor their degree by selecting four specialisation units and four elective units. These options allow learners to focus on areas that align with their professional interests and career goals, such as data analytics, governance, or advanced software development. The course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS), ensuring its relevance and recognition within the global technology industry.
