COURSE CURRICULUM
The Bachelor of Aviation requires students to complete 24 units, structured to provide a strong foundation in aviation knowledge, technical skills, and professional readiness. The program follows a typical undergraduate format with core courses, a major, and student selective units, allowing students to build essential aviation competencies while tailoring their learning to their chosen career pathway. Students begin with eight core courses that introduce them to fundamental elements of the aviation industry. These include Introduction to Aviation, which provides a broad overview of the sector; General Aviation Knowledge, which explores aircraft systems and flight principles; International Aviation, which examines global aviation operations; and Introduction to Human Performance in Aviation, which focuses on human factors and safety. Students also complete Introduction to Aviation Business to develop an understanding of commercial drivers in aviation, along with Human Capabilities for Business and Customer Experience, which build communication, teamwork, and service awareness—key skills across aviation roles. The Equipped Graduate serves as a capstone-style course that reinforces employability, professional identity, and industry readiness. After completing the core units, students move into an eight-unit major. They can specialise in either Flight Operations, which prepares them for pilot licensing and technical flight roles, or Aviation Management, which focuses on operational, administrative, and safety-based careers within airports, airlines, and aviation organisations. The program also includes eight student selective units, allowing learners to customise their degree by choosing additional aviation subjects or complementary courses from other disciplines, depending on their interests and career goals. This flexibility supports pathways into piloting, aviation operations, safety management, logistics, and airline administration. Overall, the structure ensures graduates leave with a balanced mix of industry knowledge, technical understanding, human factors awareness, and professional capability needed to enter and succeed in the aviation sector.
