COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Agricultural Technology requires students to complete 24 units of study, combining core courses, a major, and selection units to provide both foundational knowledge and specialised expertise in agricultural technology. Like most undergraduate degrees, it is structured to help students develop essential academic and professional skills before progressing into deeper, discipline-specific learning. The program begins with four core units that establish the fundamental principles of agricultural systems, digital technologies, business decision-making, and the scientific methods that underpin modern agtech practices. These core units ensure all students share a common foundation before moving into their specialised coursework. The central component of the degree is the 12-unit Production Technology major, which focuses on developing the technical skills needed to evaluate, implement, and manage emerging technologies across plant and animal production environments. Students learn how to integrate data-driven tools, precision agriculture systems, automation, and digital monitoring technologies into real-world farming operations. The major also includes practical experiences and industry-connected learning that build confidence in applying agtech solutions to address productivity, sustainability, and environmental challenges. Within this major, students follow the Production Technology (Extended) stream, which deepens their knowledge of advanced technologies, agricultural science principles, and innovative systems used in modern agribusiness. Beyond the major, students complete eight selection units that allow them to tailor their degree to personal interests or career goals. These units may be chosen to strengthen business capabilities, expand scientific knowledge, or develop technical expertise in areas such as data analytics, livestock management, crop production, sustainability, or agribusiness strategy. This flexible structure ensures that graduates complete the program with a blend of core knowledge, specialised production technology training, and personalised study choices, preparing them to identify, assess, and implement new technologies in agricultural settings while ensuring solutions are both financially viable and environmentally responsible.
