COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of International Relations / Master of Peace and Conflict Studies (2-year duration) is a 32-unit dual qualification designed to build advanced expertise in global politics, security, and peacebuilding practice. The program begins with 18 units of core courses that provide a strong theoretical and applied foundation in international relations and conflict studies. These include globalisation and international political economy, international security, the evolution of the international system, theories of international relations, security and development, conflict resolution, peacebuilding, the politics and power of nonviolence, and gender, peace and security in global and local contexts. Students then complete 8 units of flexible core courses, selected across three structured sections, allowing them to deepen specialist knowledge in targeted areas of international affairs and peace studies. A further 6 units are chosen from program electives, which may include independent study, internships, research methods, research reports, or focused topics such as gender and global development. Across the degree, students develop strong analytical, research, and policy skills, as well as practical capabilities in conflict analysis, negotiation, and peacebuilding strategy. Graduates are equipped to address complex international challenges and pursue careers in diplomacy, international organisations, humanitarian agencies, NGOs, policy development, and global peace and security research roles.
