COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Urban Water Engineering (Professional) is a 32-unit postgraduate program designed to develop advanced technical, analytical, and professional skills required to manage the full urban water cycle. The program consists of 22 units of core courses that provide a strong foundation in urban water engineering, including water supply systems, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, drainage design, hydrology, hydraulics, and integrated water resource management. These core courses emphasise the interconnected nature of urban water systems and prepare students to design and manage sustainable water infrastructure in rapidly growing cities. In addition to the core component, students complete 4 to 8 units of research project courses, where they apply engineering principles to real-world water challenges and develop advanced problem-solving and research skills. The program also includes flexibility through elective options, allowing students to select up to 2 units from advanced undergraduate courses, up to 4 units from postgraduate electives, and up to 2 units from management electives. These electives enable students to broaden their expertise or specialise in areas aligned with their career goals. Overall, the program integrates technical engineering knowledge with research and professional development, equipping graduates with the skills needed to address complex water-related challenges and contribute to sustainable urban water systems in a changing global environment.
