COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management (MTHEM) is a two-year postgraduate program consisting of 32 units designed to develop advanced knowledge, practical skills, and strategic understanding of the global tourism, hospitality, and events industry. The program begins with 8 units of foundational courses that introduce students to the structure and dynamics of tourism, hospitality, and event industries, service management, disciplinary foundations, and resource management. These courses provide a strong base for understanding how the sector operates and how value is created through service excellence. Students then complete 6 units of core courses, which focus on industry research and consultancy, visitor management, and marketing and distribution research projects, helping students build analytical, research, and industry-focused problem-solving skills. In addition, students select 8 units from fields of study such as Event Management, Hotel Management, or Travel and Tourism Management, allowing them to specialise in their chosen career direction. The remaining 10 units are completed through elective options, which may include additional field studies, industry consultancy projects, professional placements, or a tourism thesis, providing flexibility and practical experience. Overall, the program integrates theory, research, and applied learning to prepare graduates for leadership roles in tourism, hospitality, and events, equipping them with the expertise to work in a dynamic global industry.
