COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics program is designed to provide students with a strong theoretical foundation in pure mathematics along with advanced training in specialised areas of study. The program requires the completion of 32 units, consisting of 8 units of foundational courses and 24 units from a selected field of study in Mathematics. The foundational courses establish essential knowledge in key mathematical areas such as Calculus and Linear Algebra II, Linear and Abstract Algebra with Number Theory, Discrete Mathematics II, Mathematical Analysis, Advanced Topics in Mathematical Analysis, and Mathematical Probability. These subjects develop rigorous logical thinking, abstract reasoning, and problem-solving skills, which are essential for advanced mathematical study. After completing the foundational component, students undertake 24 units in a chosen Mathematics field of study, where they engage in deeper exploration of advanced mathematical concepts and techniques. This stage of the program allows students to specialise further and apply mathematical theory to complex problems across different areas. The curriculum emphasises both theoretical understanding and analytical capability, preparing students to think critically and work with high levels of abstraction. Upon completion, graduates are well equipped for careers in research, academia, data science, engineering, finance, and other quantitative fields, as well as for further postgraduate study in mathematics and related disciplines.
