COURSE CURRICULUM

The Applied Mathematics program is structured to develop advanced mathematical knowledge and strong analytical skills through a combination of foundational study and specialised training. Students are required to complete a total of 32 units, consisting of 8 units of foundational courses and 24 units from a chosen field of study in Applied Mathematics. The foundational component provides essential training in core mathematical and computational methods, including Numerical Methods in Computational Science, Calculus and Linear Algebra II, Applied Mathematical Analysis, Mathematical Analysis, Advanced Topics in Mathematical Analysis, and Probability Models and Data Analysis. These courses build a strong theoretical and practical base in mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and computational techniques. Following this, students undertake 24 units in the Applied Mathematics field of study, where they engage in advanced topics that focus on the application of mathematical principles to real-world and scientific problems. This stage of the program emphasises deeper analytical thinking, modelling, and the use of mathematical tools to solve complex problems across disciplines. The curriculum is designed to integrate theory with application, enabling students to develop both conceptual understanding and practical expertise. Upon completion, graduates are well prepared for careers in research, industry, data science, engineering, and technology-driven fields, as well as for further academic study in advanced mathematics or related disciplines.
