COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Psychology program requires students to complete a total of 32 units, consisting of 20 units of core courses and 12 units from a chosen field of study. The core courses provide a strong foundation in psychological theory, assessment, ethics, and professional practice, ensuring students develop the essential competencies required for safe and effective clinical work. Key core subjects include Assessment in Psychological Practice, Ethical Practice and Research Approaches, Interpersonal Skills in Psychology, Adult Psychopathology, and Psychological Skills and Evidence-Based Therapies. Students also undertake two supervised psychology placements, which provide structured clinical training in real-world settings, allowing them to apply psychological knowledge under professional supervision. In addition, the program includes a Master of Psychology Dissertation, which develops advanced research skills and contributes to evidence-based practice. Alongside the core component, students select one field of study worth 12 units, specialising in Counselling Psychology, Health Psychology, or Sport and Exercise Psychology. Each specialisation focuses on developing advanced knowledge and applied skills relevant to its practice area, such as supporting mental health and relationships, improving physical and psychological wellbeing, or enhancing performance in sport and exercise contexts. This integrated structure ensures graduates gain both broad professional competencies and specialised expertise, preparing them for ethical, evidence-based psychological practice and pathways toward professional registration as psychologists.
