COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Physiotherapy Studies curriculum requires students to complete a total of 40 units, consisting of 20 units of Year 1 core courses and 20 units of Year 2 core courses. The first year establishes a strong foundation in physiotherapy by introducing students to the fundamental principles of human movement, clinical assessment, evidence-based practice, therapeutic interventions, and professional healthcare practice. Students develop essential knowledge and practical skills in the assessment, diagnosis, and management of musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiorespiratory conditions while gaining an understanding of ethical practice, communication, and patient-centred care. The second year builds on this foundation by focusing on advanced clinical practice, specialised physiotherapy interventions, rehabilitation, and integrated patient management across diverse healthcare settings. Students further strengthen their clinical reasoning, decision-making, and professional competencies through advanced coursework and extensive supervised clinical placements in hospitals, community health services, aged care facilities, private practices, and other healthcare environments. Throughout the program, theoretical learning is closely integrated with practical experience, enabling students to apply evidence-based knowledge in real clinical situations. This structured curriculum ensures graduates develop the professional knowledge, technical expertise, and clinical confidence required to practise as competent and accredited physiotherapists capable of delivering high-quality care, collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and responding to the diverse rehabilitation needs of patients across the lifespan.
