COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of International Economics and Finance (2-year duration) is a structured program designed to build strong analytical, quantitative and applied skills for understanding global economic and financial systems. It requires completion of 32 units in total, beginning with 8 units of foundational coursework covering core principles in microeconomics, macroeconomics, mathematical techniques for economics, and statistics for business and economics. Students then complete 20 units of core courses that provide advanced training in macroeconomic theory, consumer and firm behaviour, financial markets, econometrics, international macroeconomics and finance, trade and investment, cost–benefit analysis, research methods in economics, as well as essential finance subjects including corporate finance and international financial management. To tailor their expertise, students select 2 to 4 units from program electives such as advanced econometric methods, machine learning for economics and finance, causal inference, financial econometrics, policy evaluation, competition policy, climate economics, and optional thesis or graduate placement options. A further 0 to 2 units may be taken as general electives. This combination ensures graduates develop strong theoretical foundations, technical quantitative skills, and practical policy and financial analysis capabilities. The program prepares students for careers in economic policy, banking, international organisations, financial markets, consulting, and research roles requiring high-level economic and financial decision-making skills.
