COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Interaction Design requires the completion of 32 units, providing a balanced curriculum that combines core design knowledge, research capability, specialised electives, and interdisciplinary learning. Students complete 20 units of core courses that establish advanced competencies in interaction design, user experience (UX), human-centred design, interface development, design thinking, usability evaluation, digital prototyping, and collaborative design practices. These compulsory courses build the technical, analytical, and creative skills required to design intuitive, accessible, and engaging digital products and services. A 4-unit research component enables students to investigate a significant interaction design challenge, apply appropriate research methodologies, analyse user needs, and develop innovative evidence-based design solutions while strengthening critical thinking and project management abilities. Students also complete 4 to 6 units of discipline electives, allowing them to deepen expertise in specialised areas such as user research, advanced interface design, emerging technologies, digital innovation, service design, or experience strategy according to their interests and career goals. An additional 0 to 4 units of breadth electives provide opportunities to broaden knowledge through complementary studies in areas such as business, communication, computer science, entrepreneurship, or related disciplines, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration. This flexible program structure equips graduates with the advanced technical, research, and professional skills required for successful careers in interaction design, UX/UI design, digital product development, and user-centred innovation across diverse industries.
