COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Governance and Public Policy is a two-year, 32-unit postgraduate program that provides comprehensive training in governance, public policy, leadership, and policy analysis. The curriculum begins with 8 units of Foundational Courses, including Writing Politics and Foundations in Politics, Policy and International Relations, which establish essential academic writing, analytical, and political science skills. Students then complete 12 units of Core Courses covering Dynamics of Governance, Dynamics of Public Policy, Comparative Public Policy, Knowledge and Evidence in Public Policy, Policy Design and Implementation, and Economic Analysis and Public Policy. These subjects develop expertise in policy formulation, implementation, evaluation, governance systems, and evidence-based decision-making. The program also includes 4 to 12 units of Flexible Core Courses, allowing students to specialise in areas such as Global Governance, Policy and Development, Leadership, Communication and Analysis, or Contemporary Policy Challenges through subjects covering international law, crisis management, environmental policy, cyber security governance, health policy, leadership, innovation, and community participation. Students may further enhance their studies with up to 8 units of Program Electives, including research projects, independent study, internships, special studies, or research methods. This flexible curriculum equips graduates with advanced analytical, leadership, communication, and policy development skills, preparing them for professional careers in government agencies, international organisations, non-government organisations, consulting, diplomacy, public administration, policy research, and social development.
