COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering Science (Management) in Urban Water Engineering is a two-year, 32-unit program combining advanced technical training in the urban water cycle with management and leadership development. Students complete 12–16 units of Flexible Compulsory Courses covering areas such as urban hydrology, wastewater treatment, integrated urban water management, drinking water supply systems, and wastewater modelling and control. A further 4–8 units are taken from Research Courses, including a research project or thesis that develops applied problem-solving and investigative skills in real-world water engineering challenges. Students may also take up to 4 units of Breadth Electives from related environmental and infrastructure fields such as catchment management, environmental health risk, and carbon and energy management. The program also requires 12 units of Management Elective Courses, drawn from entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability, international business, marketing, and management and leadership streams, enabling graduates to build skills in project delivery, strategic decision-making, and organisational leadership for the water sector. Graduates are prepared for careers in utilities, consulting, infrastructure planning, and government agencies, with expertise spanning sustainable water systems, environmental protection, and urban resilience, and with strong capability to lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver innovative solutions to complex water challenges, across global and local contexts.
